Drawn on the spot in a few sessions, the whites were cut or scratched out and certain corrections to the structure are visible. This I think gives the drawing a lively feel as the working processes can be seen. When teaching drawing I was repeatedly telling my students not to rub out mistakes, and if you look at Degas for example he might have six or seven goes at a line before he fixes it.
