One of many recent watercolours which have attempted to capture the twilight or complete darkness over the Sea. At night the sea can appear to be a rich velvety black with very little change into the sky-sometimes the only things which define the horizon are the lights of boats. Another intriguing problem is the light on waves at night, still tonally quite dark. The pier has recently been illuminated from underneath with quite dramatic effect.
